Thanksgiving Message
It’s the last Thursday of November, which is set aside here in the US as a day of Thanksgiving. The tradition is celebrated with loved ones gathering together around the dinner table to break bread together. One of the highlights of the celebration is when each one takes a moment to express the things they are most thankful for.
For me, I’ve adopted the practice of daily gratitude. I think that each and every day of our lives, we have the opportunity to give thanks. The late Bishop Eddie L. Long once said and I quote “from the minute your feet hit the ground and you breathe a breath, it’s already been a good day” Give God thanks.
This year more than ever, I am thankful for many things. I have faced some of my greatest challenges and by the grace of God, I made it through. I take nothing for granted but consider life a gift to be cherished and celebrated. Heartfelt gratitude is my new attitude.
How about you? I’m sure there are lots of testimonies and stories of gratitude to be shared this thanksgiving. The COVID-19 pandemic which began last year was one of the most terrible challenges faced globally but it has served as a reminder to us of how quickly our lives can change. It took us by storm and rocked us to the very core. Thankfully, things are looking up.
Despite the bad, I see the silver lining in that dark cloud as some good have come out of it. Many families were brought together and relationships mended as a result of having to shelter in place. Working from home became the new reality which meant a change of pace without the daily 2-4 hour commute. Although that created other issues, for the most part it was a much needed break.
To sum it all up, I count it all a blessing. We triumph in adversity and having an attitude of gratitude makes the difference in the outcome. So this Thanksgiving, I urge everyone to take a moment and reflect on life’s goodness. Put aside the daily cares and focus on God’s goodness. There is always something to be thankful for, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.
Happy Thanksgiving from SLS Accounting & Business Consulting Services!
